James Petrozzello was born and raised in New Jersey, outside NYC and down the shore. He earned a BA in History from Washington University in St. Louis. He took a black and white photography course during his last semester, and developed a passion for photography. In 1997 he moved to Brooklyn, NY to pursue his interest. He took photo courses at ICP and SVA. In 1999 he started a full-time assistant position with the legendary portrait photographer Arnold Newman. From there he assisted full time for Jose Picayo and freelance for Nadav Kander and George Holz. His transition out of assisting began in 2006 when he started shooting for the New York Yankees. In 2008, the Yankees made him their official team photographer. He continues shooting for them today. He also shoots editorial and commercial assignments, as well as his own personal projects. He still lives in Brooklyn, and he is available for assignments worldwide.
